Monitor your AMD with a smartphone.

The FDA has approved Alleye, a mobile app indicated for the screening and monitoring of macular degeneration.

How does it work?
The app tests a patient’s central vision using vernier acuity (the ability to judge if there is disalignment between vertical lines). The patient is asked to line up three dots on an invisible line in several different arrangements and the results are immediately sent to their provider. Here is a demo video.

How much is it?
The doctor needs to register as an “authorized reseller” of the app and it’s $98 for an annual license which the company suggests passing on the cost to your patient.
