In today's rapidly evolving landscape of eye care, generational differences have come into sharper focus. The practice of optometry, like any other healthcare profession, is shaped by the unique perspectives, challenges, and goals of different generations. This generational gap is often seen when seasoned optometrists and new graduates come together in practice. The goal is to bridge these differences and create a harmonious, future-forward approach to patient care, practice management, and leadership.

The healthcare landscape is constantly evolving, and within it, the field of eye care must continuously strive for clinical excellence, unmatched patient care, and innovation. These objectives are essential for advancing the profession and making a broader impact on the healthcare system. The New England College of Optometry (NECO) is at the forefront of these efforts, spearheading initiatives like the Industry Collaborative to bring together academia, industry, and media to address these challenges.

“We are excited to begin building Latinos En Optometry and sharing the resources and connections that will help better address the eye care needs of the Latino community and especially the doctors who serve the Latino community,” said Lawrence Chavez. “We are committed to creating generational change to better serve the needs of Latinos now and 20 years from now,” Chavez added.

Zenni partnered with NECO to establish the Zenni Eye Care Access Scholarship to further both organizations' commitment to improving eye health in vulnerable communities. A scholarship of this nature will assist NECO students in their desire to provide eye care for all and supports efforts to make eye care accessible to patients in need.

The New England College of Optometry (NECO) held the second Industry Collaborative on August 29 and 30 in Boston and hosted over 100 attendees from the eye care industry, health care, media and academia to share their expertise, debate innovations, and discuss the need for optometry and optometric education to adapt to better serve patient needs.
