What your patient might ask you…

Did you hear about the new artificial iris?

The FDA recently approved the first prosthetic iris.

Who is it for?
It’s for adults and children with congenital aniridia or other iris defects (i.e from trauma or melanoma etc).

Wait, does this mean I can get an iris color changing surgery?
No. Their website explicitly states, “our iris prosthesis is not made for and will not be sold for color change.”
Here are videos of the implantation. (via)
