New research out of Louisiana State has shown that a component in fish oil (NDP1) can protect retinal cells damaged by oxidative stress. They found NDP1 increased the production of a protein that helps with DNA repair.
The authors state, “the further unraveling of the molecular details may contribute to possible therapeutic interventions for retinal degenerations.”
Fish oil continues to impress scientists.
