Is there a supplement that helps prevent diabetic retinopathy?

Physician Recommended Nutriceuticals (PRN) just launched one. It’s called nuretin and the company says it’s a “medical food” formulated to reduce the risk and slow the progression to diabetic retinopathy.

What is it?
It’s two softgels that contain 1000mg of DHA and 200mg of EPA, two omega-3 fatty acids found in fish.

How do they know this helps diabetic retinopathy?
The company cites a couple of studies including this one. It showed individuals with type 2 diabetes that consumed at least 500 mg/d of dietary long-chain omega-3 polyunsaturated fatty acids, was associated with a decreased risk of sight-threatening diabetic retinopathy.
