What is SMILE?
It stands for small incision lenticule extraction and is a minimally invasive alternative to LASIK or PRK for myopes (sorry, hyperopes).
It was FDA approved in the US in September 2016. Zeiss is also smiling because it is the manufacturer of Visumax, the only laser that can perform SMILE.
