What’s happening on the glaucoma front?

Implantable IOP sensors.
The first patient was successfully implanted with the suprachoroidal-placed Eyemate-SC sensor.

Never heard of it. Fill me in.
It’s an implantable sensor that can measure IOP any time of the day. The patient holds a handheld device up to their eye to capture a reading. Measurements are sent to a cloud-based database that the physician can access remotely. If you’ve got 8 minutes, here is a video of the implantation procedure.

Has this been done?
It has. The Eyemate-IO is an implantable sensor from the same company that is done in conjunction with cataract surgery. This is already approved in Europe. Here is a video of the implantation.

The study for the Eyemate-SC sensor is expected to be completed in 2020.
