Over the last couple of weeks, I have come in contact with numerous opticians virtually and in person. The common question that I get asked is, “how do I become a better optician?” What resources are available? On this podcast, Dr. Darryl Glover sits down with Carissa Dunphy, ABO Certified Optician, to discuss becoming a better optician. Carissa breaks down the American Board of Opticianry Certified (ABOC), Licensed Dispensing Opticians (LDO), and Certified Dispensing Opticians (CDO). Additionally, the two discuss Carissa’s journey in eyecare, the importance of emotional connections that lens coatings provide, and her favorite eyewear.
Carissa Dunphy is an ABO Certified Optician who has worked in the eyecare industry since 2008 and in healthcare for several years. She grew up in a house where her parents ran their small business in the home office, and she began learning all of the elements of running a business at an early age. Seeing her parents’ hard work instilled in her a strong work ethic and the desire to do and see a job well done.
