A lot of people in the industry know her as GlamOptometrist, Dr. Fartash, Superwoman; But to me she’s been a great mentors, resource, and forever cheerleader to my growing success. I’m so pleased to present this month the series on “If ‘Eye’ could Go Back” with Dr. Arian Fartash. Dr. Fartash is the creator of GlamBaby, runs the popular Instagram page ‘GlamOptometrist’, leads many other businesses, and most importantly is a mom to her beautiful baby girl.
Question: What is the biggest/proudest accomplishment/message in the optometric world?
Dr. Fartash: That optometry kicks ass and can help save lives, prevent disease, and style you in killer looks all at the same time.
Question: What inspires you to wake up everyday and continue being an optometrist?
Dr. Fartash: My daughter and my patients
Question: If your Instagram hadn’t been successful, what would your life have looked like?
Dr. Fartash: I would have found another way to create something to touch peoples lives and get the message that ODs are bad asses
Question: Are you ever afraid of taking the first steps to start a project or ask for opportunities?
Dr. Fartash: Never… a closed mouth never gets fed
Question: Do you think women often don’t ask for opportunities in the profession?
Dr. Fartash: I think people in general don’t. They always have or find an excuse. But I always tell people to stand up for what they think is right and what they are worth…. If the other side doesn’t like it, time to move on
Question: Twenty years from now, what do you have people remember about you from today?
Dr. Fartash: That I built something out of nothing.
Question: If tomorrow Instagram shut down, how would you continue to expand your journey and your message?
Dr. Fartash: Thru GlamBaby…. My hope was to create a brand that was timeless and educational.
Question: What was the hardest part about starting GlamBaby?
Dr. Fartash: Being 9 months pregnant and then C-section. I had my first Nordstrom pop up at 4 weeks post partum, don’t know how I did it, but I did and it turned out to be so successful that 4 months later, they picked GlamBaby up.
If you could go back before you started this journey, what would you tell yourself?
