Introduction:

Dr. Darryl Glover: What’s up, everyone? It’s your favorite optometrist, Dr. Darryl Glover. Happy Wednesday and Happy Hump Day. I hope everyone out there in the world has made an impact today. As eye care professionals, we make an impact every day! We make an impact through breakthrough lens technology. And today’s guest is really going to break down what that looks like when you’re in the exam lane. Also, what it looks like when you’re on the optical floor, what it looks like to patients, and what it means to us as eye care professionals. Friends and family, I like to welcome my brother from another mother, Mr. Jeff Harrell.

Dr. Darryl Glover: The one thing I love about EssilorLuxottica is the innovation. It’s like innovation is a part of your DNA. Before we jump too much into all the innovation that you have, man, I just really want to learn a little bit more about EssilorLuxottica’s approach to innovation.

Jeff Harrell: So let’s talk about that a little bit, my friend. Well, it’s first and foremost, it’s a global effort when you think about the breadth that we have globally of all the R&D centers linked to some of the most prestigious universities in the world to try to kind of do the research that we need to do. Because many times the innovation that we find, it’s really about identifying those unmet needs that patients have. And many times it’s some that our eye care professional partners don’t even realize that they have. And that’s what’s so critical about that innovation and discovering what these people need and how we solve for it. It can be done through multiple ways of surveys, focus groups, and really digging into what the individuals are looking for, how they use their glasses today, and how they use their vision. And just really saying, how can we solve this problem? How can we break the compromises of the generations of the past? And in many cases, we end up creating new categories of products. Progressive lenses, photochromic lenses, and no-glare lenses.

Crizal Sapphire HR Anti-Reflective Lenses:

Dr. Darryl Glover: Today, I really want to talk about the innovation of the Crizal anti-glare family.  We live in a world where there is a lot of light sensitivity, so we need to have a solution for our patients. Essilor has an amazing lens portfolio that has really helped to elevate how we as optometrists prescribe from the chair. Let’s talk about the Crizal family range.

Jeff Harrell: Crizal Sapphire HR brings the durability and the scratch performance that we launched with Crizal Rock to the best-in-class no-glare, and that’s all Crizal Sapphire HR. But we also want to make sure that we have an offer for everybody. And we know that no-glare is still very underpenetrated in the United States. When you look at some of the other parts of the world, I think we’re probably 30, 40% max with an anti-reflective coating penetration in the U.S. So there’s an opportunity to delight our patients with a better overall product.

Where Can I learn more about Crizal Sapphire HR Anti-Reflective Lenses?:

Dr. Darryl Glover: The one thing that your patients will remember you by is how well they see in their glasses. So if you do not get an accurate refraction and prescribe the right lens solutions for your patients, they will be upset and never come back to your office. So make sure that you prescribe the right solutions. Now Jeff, for folks that want to learn more about the new Crizal no-glare lens technology, where can they learn more?

Jeff Harrell: You know, we’ve got a wealth of information at Essilorpro.com. We also have our new global education platform of Leonardo, which beyond Crizal has so many great training and educational opportunities to build on what you were saying before about getting the refraction and eyewear right.
