There are a few stalwarts in optometry that we all stop and wonder, how did they build this? For our generation, that person who has accomplished so much in so little time is undoubtedly Matt Geller. As a student at SUNY, he founded optometrystudents.com with no prior experience in web design or blogging. After successfully transferring ownership of this site to the AOA, Matt was looking for the next opportunity in his young career when he realized he was staring it right in the face. As a new grad, there was a wealth of essential knowledge for transitioning into a career as a doctor available only through mentors, but not available anywhere with a quick online search. NewGradOptometry.com was born.
In this week’s podcast, we discuss what drives Matt Geller to continue to reinvent himself and his brands, and how he continues to grow his career by attending International Vision Expo. Listening to users of NewGradOptometry.com that asked how they could be linked with young ODs seeking employment inspired his company, Covalent Careers. But it was networking, reaching back into his student days, that allowed him to turn ideas into tangible success.
