Or another way to say, a way to renew your glasses prescription online. After the 20 minute eye test, a doctor reviews the Rx and responds within 24 hours with either an OK to renew or a referral recommendation for a full eye exam.
How does the refraction work?
It uses Landolt C, Fan Chart, and Duochrome to determine the refractive error. Hereis a good rundown or you can view the demo on their website.
How much is it?
It’s free for now. The are soft launching this to a selected audience.
Who is the selected audience?
People between the ages of 18 and 40 in California, Florida, New York and Virginia who already have Warby Parker glasses. Also, it’s limited to single vision wearers with an Rx between plano and -6.00 sph and with no more than 2.00D of cyl.
Do they tell people it’s not an eye exam?
Yes. Their disclaimer: “Prescription Check is not a comprehensive eye health exam and it isn’t meant to replace visits to your eye doctor. It’s important to also get your eye health examined even if you aren’t experiencing any vision problems, so please follow the advice of your doctor. Good to keep those peepers in check.”
You may not be a fan of this but at least Warby Parker doesn’t harass people.
