Dr. Darryl Glover Takes on 29 Rooms x Transitions

Vibrant colors, intoxicating music, delicious hor d’oeuvres, and a room full of curious minds and shared experiences. This was the vibe of the Transitions and 29 Rooms collaboration.  Sounds amazing, right?  I can tell you it was having experienced it first hand.  I had to pinch myself to make sure it was real. The 29 rooms and transitions event was mind blowing and a must attend event.

For those that are unfamiliar with 29 rooms, “IT’S 29 ONE-OF-A-KIND EXPERIENCES UNDER ONE ROOF.  IT’S A SPACE FOR INTERACTION AND EXPLORATION: A PLACE TO DANCE, PAINT, THINK, MAKE NEW FRIENDS, GIVE A DAMN.  IT’S A TASTING MENU OF CONTEMPORARY CULTURE BUILT BY VOICES IN ART, STYLE, ACTIVISM, AND TECHNOLOGY.  IT’S A VISUALLY STUNNING STAGE FOR CREATIVE EXPRESSION.  IT’S AN INVITATION TO DREAM BIGGER.”

This year, Refinery29, the makers behind 29 Rooms collaborated with Transitions to read an all-new interactive experience.

The night started with a Facebook live on Essilor’s Pro page with myself, my great friend Dr. Ryan Parker; Transitions ambassador, Andrew Weitz; and the marketing genius, Mrs. Sherianne James (Essilor of America Chief of Marketing).  Dr. Ryan Parker lead the Facebook live with an introduction of the rest of us followed by a “game show” style Facebook Live interview. It was great and really revolved around the theme for Transitions® Signature® GEN 8™: innovative, protective, and convenient.  The interview was pretty awesome because it provided an authentic perspective of all views from industry, a consumer stand point, and a doctor’s perspective.

Following the Facebook live, the rooms opened and the fun began.  The set up was perfect!  For the first half of the evening, I got to mingle with other eyecare professionals and hear about their experience with Transitions® Signature® GEN 8™ lens. Everyone spoke highly about the new design and really loved the aspect of a faster activation and quicker fade back time.  In addition to a game changing lens, Sherriane James informed us of the Essilor Next Gen Offer.  We just rolled this out at our practice and have received a lot of interest.

For the second half of the evening, the room cleared out and I was surrounded by bloggers and social media influencers and let’s just say they came prepared.  They each arrived with their own personal camera crews and were dressed to the nines. Everyone enjoyed the vibes of great music, over flowing drinks, and Transitions® Signature® GEN 8™.  Yes, Transitions® Signature® GEN 8™.  I wish all of eyecare professionals could have seen how interested and intrigued my fellow millennials were.  They explored the activation of the lens and fade back and were amazed.

Throughout the evening and I visited the various rooms.  While I loved them all, my favorite room was the 29 questions room.  Basically, a group of people were placed in the room and paired up with a complete stranger with a deck of cards with questions. I was paired up with Keyma (StyleWeekender).  She is a blogger based out of California.  After a few questions and laughter, I made a new friend.

Overall, I enjoyed my experience at the 29 Rooms.  It confirmed that prescribing Transitions can elevate one’s practice and that the millennial crowd is highly interested in the Transitions® Signature® GEN 8™ technology.  This opens up a great opportunity for us to prescribe to all age demographics, especially millennials. If you have not experienced or incorporated the advance technology of Transitions® Signature® GEN 8™, check out my unboxing and make sure you hit up the next 29 Rooms x Transitions event. Currently, they are in Dallas and will be in Atlanta and Washington, DC next.
